Bridges Society Leadership Breakfast

August 8, 2023 8:00 am - 9:00 am PA Media Group

Join us for our Bridges Society Leadership Breakfast featuring Cate Barron, Former President of PA MEDIA GROUP.

Cate Barron has been at the forefront of the digital revolution that upended traditional media business models and continues to demand bold innovation.

She retired this summer as President of PA Media Group (PAMG) after a 40-year career that included roles as radio news director, newspaper editor, writing coach, video studio founder and online publisher. She served as senior editor on many major reporting projects, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of the Sandusky scandal.

Cate cites converting The Patriot-News from a print to digital newsroom as one of the biggest challenges of her career. Today, PennLive.com ranks among the nation’s news websites with highest market reach.

Cate champions mentoring and works extensively with Report for America and Advance Local’s leadership accelerator programs. She currently serves as executive sponsor for Advancing Women, a new corporate affinity group initiative. While at PAMG, she launched regional Mentoring Monday events which grew to include over 200 annual participants.

The Lewistown native is a Georgetown University graduate and holds a master’s degree from Penn State. Later this year, she will receive the PA NewsMedia Association’s Lifetime Achievement designation, the state organization’s highest honor.
