A Day of Impact: Women’s Leadership Network Holds MLK Day Volunteer Event
On Monday, January 20, 2025, United Way of the Capital Region’s Women’s Leadership Network (WLN) held its 10th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Day Volunteer Event at Susquehanna Township High School. Despite the snowy day and frigid temperatures, more than 95 women and children participated in this popular event.
Working together, they created:
- 300 winter care kits for children in Ready for School, Ready to Succeed, our school readiness program.
- 300 emergency period kits for students at Susquehanna Township Middle and High Schools.
- 300 personal hygiene kits for students at Harrisburg High School who shower at school before their day begins.
- 100 shoebox meal kits for families in crisis that are involved in our community initiatives.
Celebrating the impact of volunteerism was a highlight of the day. You can hear firsthand from WLN participants at – www.weny.com/story/52210427/mlk-service-day-raising-up-the-next-generation-of-volunteers.
