Workforce Development – Meet Jeilisse

“My family is my everything. That’s why I give my job my all.” – Jeilisse

Jeilisse is a medical assistant in the pediatrics department at Hamilton Health Center. As a bilingual speaker, she loves putting families at ease as she guides them through their medical visits with their children. Any day she gets to work with kids is a great day for Jeilisse.

Jeilisse’s journey to her current role began when she entered United Way of the Capital Region’s Road to Success initiative, which helps people get – and keep – jobs with opportunities for advancement. Jeilisse was connected to the program through the Tri-County OIC.

As a natural caregiver, Jeilisse was drawn to the medical field. She completed a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program at Dauphin County Technical School. She loved the profession and decided to continue her training at Harrisburg Area Community College to become a medical assistant. Once she graduated, she earned an internship at Hamilton Health Center where she was then offered a permanent position.

“I love my job and I love studying,” Jeilisse says. “My next goal is to become a registered nurse.”

Jeilisse is grateful for United Way’s Road to Success program which has helped her find a career so she can take care of her family.
